Hugmyndafræðin
Að vefa úr tuskum eru viðbrögð mín við flæðið af fötum og öðrum textílum sem menn láta frá sér. Ég fæ tuskur frá vinum og vandamönnum til að klippa og er það ærið. 
Ég hef fengið að líta inn í fatasöfnun Rauðakrossins, og þar eru heilu fjöllin af heilum flíkum og sængurfötum og öðrum heimilistextílum. Næstum því allt notæft! 
Það er hægt að kaupa svo ódýr föt og heimiltextíla að mönnum finnst ekkert mál að skipta um t.d. öll lökin heima hjá sér. 
En hvernig stendur á því að bómull sem ferðast svo langan veg getur verið ódýr vara?
Ferli flíkanna sem koma til mín er í stuttu máli svona: Þær þurfa að vera hreinar, ég klippi alla sauma af. Svo klippi ég efnið í lengjur og vind upp í hnykil. Sortera eftir litum. Set uppistöðu í vefstólinn og byrja að vefa.
Ég lita ekki tuskurnar sjálf því það er búið að því í iðnaðinum og af nógu er að taka.
En það er samt merkilegt að suma liti er erfiðara að nálgast. T.d. þegar ég óf fjólubláa teppið sem er á sýningunni lenti ég í vanda. Auglýsti ég eftir lillabláum og fjólubláum tuskum en fékk lítið. Endaði á því að fara í Rauðakrossbúð og kaupa nokkra lillabláa boli. En það sem gerir litasamsetninguna erfiða er að til að gera fallegan lit þarf nokkra til. Tuskur í ýmsum litum eru litaspjald mitt sem ég tíni saman úr.

The concept
To weave from rags is my reaction to the overwhelming amount of peoples‘ discarded garments and other textiles. Friends have given me quite alot of rags already. The Red Cross Centre, where they receive discarded clothes, has heaps of garments, bed linen and other textiles. Almost all of it is totally useful.
One can purchase new garments and other textiles for affordable prices so it is not a big deal, for example, tochange  all the bed linen in one‘s home.
But how can cotton that has travelled such a long way be an inexpensive product ? 
Processing the garments  I receive can be described in a  few words They need to be clean. Then I cut all of the seams off. Then I cut the material into strips and wind them into a ball.  I set the warp yarns into the loom and then I start weaving, using the rag strips for the weft.
I don't dye the rags because they have already been commercially dyed and there is plenty of colour. Still it is interesting that some colours are harder to obtain than others. When I was weaving the violet piece I didn't have enough hues. I sent out some calls for violet clothes but received little. Finally I bought some in the Red Cross shop.
What makes the colour part of the weaving difficult is that to make an interesting colour in the rug I need a spectrum of rags to work with. Rags are my palette.

-Spend quite a lot of time doing outdoor activities like hiking, skiing and paddling. Have also travelled to visit other cultures and natures. 
- Performances on spinning wool on mountains are a way to combine my two passions art and outdoors and to make statements in both fields.
-Taught art in kindergarten Steinahlíð in Reykjavik 2006-2007
-Have attended President Meetings and seminars on handicraft in Scandinavia as a member of the board of Icelandic Society of Art and Craft HFI.-A lecture on weaving in HFI, Reykjavik 1997.-Talks about Icelandic cashmere project 2010 and 2011 at annual meeting of Goat breeders' society of Iceland.
